Coordination compounds. To a chemist like me, these may seem ordinary but to laymen who have no idea about electronic configuration of metals and the associated energies, these may seem unusual. Coordination compounds are basically organic compounds chelated or bounded to a central metal. Depending on the central metal, the color of the compound will change. Interesting isn’t it? And very unusual. =)
My bloc mates told me that in Inorganic laboratory, I’d see a lot of these color changes and all that but the mechanism and the principles behind it can be a bit difficult to explain and grasp. Hopefully, when I take that subject up, I’d enjoy both the experiment and the lab report. 😀
