My Neutrogena non-alcoholic toner is about to be used up so I was looking for a new brand to try. The Neutrogena toner is already non-comedogenic but I still suffered from occasional breakouts. I guess my skin is not compatible with the brand or the other products I use.
My search took me to a brand which is becoming a new favorite—Etude. I asked the saleslady for a toner which is alcohol-free and mild. She referred to the Pure Joy Calming Toner. This is how the product looks like:
Pure Joy Toner is designed for those with sensitive skin and claims to be free of parabens, mineral oil, benzophenone, ethanol, perfumes, dyes and GM ingredients. I liked it very much. The toner itself is very light and has a nice citrus smell. It’s easily absorbed by my skin and it doesn’t leave a weird tingly film layer which I experienced in both Neutrogena and Nivea toner. My skin condition also improved a lot. My skin became less oily especially in the morning when I just woke up.
After almost three weeks of using the product, I did not have any breakouts. It’s the only thing I changed in my usual skin regime of Sebamed Face and Body Wash for Sensitive Skin, St. Ives Apricot Scrub for Fresh Skin, and St. Ives Collagen and Elastin Moisturizer for Timeless Skin. I guess the toner works well with the other products I use.
Verdict? 8.5/10. I like it very much and I definitely but it again once I used up my current supply. It’s a bit pricey for some at Php 448.00/200 mL (Neutrogena and Nivea toner retails at about Php 200-250) but hey! I don’t mind shelving out money for good products.
On the day I bought the toner, I also restocked my shelf with the Eye Make-up Remover. I’ve been using since it last year and it’s one of the remover which actually does it job excellently. Go grab one! I also got a box of cotton swabs for free. Love Etude!
